At Budgit, your privacy is a priority. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your information. This policy applies to both the Budgit web application and mobile application.
Account information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash). If you sign in via Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from the provider.
Financial data: When you connect your bank through Plaid (web) or your Wise account (mobile), we receive transaction history, account balances, and account metadata. We do not receive or store your bank login credentials.
Profile and social data: Information you choose to share, including profile photos, social feed posts, comments, likes, and friend connections.
Usage data: We collect basic usage information such as feature interactions and error logs to improve the service.

Budgit uses Google's Gemini AI to categorize your transactions. Transaction descriptions are sent to the AI for classification. We do not send your name, email, account numbers, or any personally identifiable information to the AI. The AI does not retain your data after processing.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where required by law.

Budgit uses local storage for authentication tokens and user preferences. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising pixels.
Budgit is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of Budgit after changes constitutes acceptance.
